Telehealth
Where the client was matters more than you think.
A remote session is not just an appointment held differently. It changes what the claim says, and it can change whether you were licensed to hold it at all.
Licensure
You are licensed where the client is
The claim
Place of service 10 and 02 are not the same
Modality
Video and telephone are recorded apart
Documentation
The note does not change
One question, asked at the only moment it can be answered.
Where the client is sitting cannot be read off the address on file, and cannot be reconstructed afterwards without asking somebody to guess about something the practice bills on. So it is asked as they arrive, and it decides three things at once.
Insight Notes does not host the call
There is no video room here. You hold the session on whatever platform you already use, and Insight Notes records what the session was, where the client was, and what the claim should therefore say.
The client does get a link, and it is worth being exact about what it opens: a check-in, not a call. They confirm which state they are physically in, the practice is told they have arrived, and the session records it. The call itself happens wherever you already hold it.
Adding video means choosing a vendor and signing a business associate agreement with them, which is a decision about who else gets to be in the room with your clients. It is not made yet, and pretending otherwise on this page would be the easiest lie on the site to tell.
The rest of it
Start with the week you are already having.
Set up a practice, put a real week in the calendar, and see whether it fits before you move anything across.
